The Transformation of Joan Little
In Development
written by Bobby Bermea
A theatrical account of what went on behinds the scenes of the 1974 murder trial of Joan Little. Joan Little was the first woman to be aquitted of murder committed in self defense against a sexual assault. She was also the first black woman to be given the right to use a “sexual assault” defense against a white male rapist. This piece will be an exploration of how black people carve different paths to survival in America and the tensions that arise between those choices. This is a collaboration between Beirut Wedding World Theatre Project and Artists Rep.
