Acting II: Scene Study

with Sarah Lucht

This course continues the work of Acting I through analysis and on-line (Zoom) exploration of scenes from modern (20th and 21st century), realistic plays. This class acknowledges the circumstances of acting in an on-line context and will emphasize tactics of connection and character revelation, contact with the actors’ emotional life, as well as in-depth text analysis of the assigned scenes. Students will develop their listening and responding skills, apply Stanislavski’s fundamentals, and engage with the art and craft of acting while transcending the current in-person restrictions.

April 20 – June 8, Tuesdays (8 classes)
Some outside work will be required.

Suggested Accompanying Class: A Director’s Perspective for Actors & Directors, Monologue Intensive, Acting in the Zoomiverse, Physical Character Lab, Musical Theatre Audition and Performance, On Camera Acting, Finding Meaning Today: Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream or Public Speaking for Everyone.
