Ara Manoogian
Ara (they/them/any*) is a mixed, disabled Armenian/Jewish scenic designer. Where they’re from, fire season is year-round, their dad makes them a bowl of fruit every night, and fighting over the check is a form of love. They are thrilled and honored to be a member of the PATHWAYS program.
Ara believes in the potential of theater as an act of care, and scenic design as a living love letter to fellow trans, SWANA, and disabled folks. They hope that their scenic design work can be a rehearsal of their community’s most hopeful versions of the future. They are innumerably grateful to their past and current mentors, their professors, and their chosen family for their guidance and support.
*they/them pronouns in American English preferred – any pronouns in languages with grammatical gender.
