Holcombe Waller

Holcombe Waller

Holcombe Waller

Music Arranger

HOLCOMBE WALLER is a Portland-based singer, composer and performing artist who composes for concerts, film, dance as well as for his own interdisciplinary performance projects.  He is known for his arresting, elastic vocals and subtle but knife-twisting folk and pop songwriting that dances with the elements around themes of nostalgia, intimacy and the search for spiritual meaning.  He was awarded a 2011 United States Artists Berresford Fellowship in Music, an award which noted his mournful, folk-inflected style as well as his approach to music “as total theater.” He is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Mapfund Grant, and he is also a Creative Capital grantee and an Oregon Arts Council Joan Shipley Fellow. Over a career spanning 13 years, Waller has self-released five albums on his own label, has toured four interdisciplinary performances, and has ventured numerous collaborations with film and dance makers. Most recently, he premiered Requiem Mass: LGBT / Working Title in the 2015 TBA Festival. Currently, he is developing a one-person performance investigating the history of coal and oil trains in the Columbia River Gorge. More info at www.holcombewaller.com

Our Mission

Artists Repertory Theatre’s mission is to produce intimate, provocative theatre and provide a home for a diverse community of artists and audiences to take creative risks.

Land Acknowledgement

ART acknowledges that our theatre rests on land that was stolen from indigenous communities. It belongs to the Cowlitz, Chinook, Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde, and the Siletz — tribes that remain present, strong and vibrant.

ANTI-RACIST STATEMENT
Artists Repertory Theatre recognizes that we are a predominately white organization and operate within systemic racism and oppression, and that silence and neutrality are actions of complicity. We recognize the critical role the arts play in our culture and national conversation, and accept our responsibility to make positive change through our work, our practices, and our policies. We commit ourselves to the work of becoming an anti-racism and anti-oppression organization, and will work with urgency to end racial inequities in our industry and our culture.

Artists Repertory Theatre is recognized as a tax-exempt non-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; tax ID number 93-0828781. Your contribution qualifies as a charitable contribution under the IRS Code.
