Pedro Chamale
Pedro Chamale (he/him) was born and raised on Treaty 8 territory (Chetwynd, BC) and now creates on the unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. He completed Douglas College’s acting program and earned a BFA in Theatre Performance from SFU. Pedro is a freelance director, playwright, performer, and Artistic Director of rice & beans theatre, which he co-founded with Derek Chan. His leadership spans roles with Neworld Theatre, rEvolver Festival, Banff Centre, Canadian Latinx Theatre Artist Coalition, and Latinx Theatre Commons. His recognitions include SFU’s 2021 Young Alumni Excellence Award and a 2023 BC “Breaking Boundaries” award nomination. His play Peace Country was published by Playwrights Canada Press and he has also written for the Canadian Theatre Review along other published anthologies.
