Gala 2020: The Magic of Theatre

A journey into The Magic of Theatre, celebrating all who contribute to creating the powerful, provocative work Artists Rep continues to deliver: onstage, backstage, in the booth, and in the audience.

While we had hoped to gather ‘round the ghost lights to honor the process of playmaking together on March 14, 2020, Artists Rep made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 gala based on Governor Kate Brown’s recommendations to suspend all large gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We quickly pivoted to a “virtual paddle raise,” and our community of extraordinary supporters responded: 170+ donors gave more than $130,000! These funds are a direct investment in new work by women, gender-nonconforming artists, and playwrights of color; our thriving ArtsHub companies; our adult education programs; our student workshops and matinee performances; and our cutting-edge accessibility initiatives, ensuring that price is never a barrier to theatre.

From every one of us at Artists Rep: THANK YOU.

Carol Ann Wohlmut, John San Nicolas, and Jonathan Cole, all valued collaborators and Resident Artists at ART, share Artists Rep has made a difference in their lives in this video that we planned to feature at the gala. We hope you’ll join them in creating and supporting this work.
