Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions you are about to ask related to our 2021/22 Season:
ARE YOU STILL HAVING A SEASON?
Yes! Adaptability and Flexibility are the name of the game right now. Artists Rep is programming content for the 2021/22 season, however, how the public is able to consume that programming is going to be modified due to the current public guidelines. Our plan is to have live performances at Portland Center Stage in the Ellyn Bye Studio.
WHAT’S HAPPENING TO THE ARTSHUB?
The ArtsHub is still going strong. Just recently, we welcomed Broke Gravy, Back Porch Sessions, and Back Fence PDX. We are talking to other arts organizations who may join the ArtsHub in the upcoming season.
WHAT IS MEMBERSHIP AT ART?
MEMBERSHIP at ART means you are supporting the entire mission of Artists Rep and bringing intimate, provocative theatre to Portland using local talent. Ticket sales alone won’t sustain ART. By becoming a Member, you believe that ART matters in Portland. You believe that artists matter in Portland. You believe in ART Mercury and the creation of new work.
ARE YOU GOING TO STREAM/SIMULCAST PRODUCTIONS?
Currently, theatres across the country are working with the unions to figure out a way for arts institutions to stream or simulcast new productions. At this time, the unions are most concerned with those productions that had to immediately shutter because of COVID-19, but will move to making rules around streaming for future productions.
WHAT’S HAPPENING TO THE BUILDING?
In June of 2022, the State or Oregon made a $2 million grant to RISE – The Campaign for Artists Repertory Theatre. This brings the total raised for the project to $22.9 million and potentially provides the funding to begin Phase 2 of construction, completion of the core, shell, seismic upgrades and investments in mechanical systems. Given long lead times for steel, construction is planned to begin in February/March of 2022.
With the continued challenges of the pandemic, it is even more imperative for Artists Rep and the ArtsHub to move back into our home at 1515 Morrison to maintain its day-to-day operations. Design of the new ART facility includes two theatres (300 seats and 100 seats), four (4) rehearsal halls and collaborative spaces. With additional fundraising success we hope to complete Phase 3 (interiors) and move into the new building in the winter of 2023.
FLEX PASSES, WHAT ARE THEY GOOD FOR?
FLEX PASSES – What are they good for, how do I determine how many to get?
- 1 pass for one seat to a live show
- The 2020/21 Season Flex passes are good through the 2022 season.
Passes can be redeemed for a live theatre performance, by contacting the box office.
